Passionate About:

Hello! I am Joshua Atere, a student pharmacist from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. I am very excited about the opportunity to work alongside Global Medical Brigades Honduras in January 2015. I am a native of Prince George's County, Maryland and of Nigerian decent. I am passionate about Jesus, music and making a difference. In January, I was fortunate to go on a trip with a few friends from the University of Maryland College Park under Alternative Break to Guatemala to help renovate a school in Los Andes. It was one of the best experiences in my life and now I am at a position to use my knowledge attained from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy to help people concerning their health. I would be honored if you could help donate towards my trip as funds are very limited due to schooling. Any amount goes a long way and I would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! Thank you so much, God bless!

Volunteer Activity Message

Global Brigades offers 7 day Medical Brigades for volunteers to participate in throughout the year. During a medical brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
