Angelia was born and raised on Guam and moved to San Diego, CA in 2009 to pursue higher education. After receiving her Associate’s in Physical Chemistry from San Diego Mesa College in 2011, she transferred to UCLA as a junior Biochemistry major. She has since been an active member in the Pacific Islands’ Student Association (PISA) – a student group that represents less than 1% of UCLA’s student body. As a first-generation college student of Chamorro descent, Angelia addressed concerns regarding academic retention and wellness while serving as Vice-President of PISA during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Angelia is currently wrapping up her last quarter at UCLA. She hopes to pursue work in biotechnology after graduating and continues to maintain her passion for health, fitness, and nutrition in the meantime. This Public Health Brigade will touch on her love for volunteering, community health and leadership, and overall interest in public health.
