Living in La Peñita, Porfirio is a 15-year-old boy suffering from a trauma to his left arm. In May 2016, Porfirio was involved in an accident that led to a fracture of his left humerus and damage to his left brachial plexus and peripheral nerves, resulting in total paralysis of his left arm. To repair the damage to his arm, Porfirio needs a highly specialized microsurgery that is only performed in the US and Canada due to the complexity of the surgery. He is currently seeing a physical therapist but is not undergoing any other treatment.
