Medical/Dental Brigades at Smith College

  • About
Medical/Dental Brigades at Smith College is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The Smith College chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement a medical/dental program that benefits more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually.

The mission of Global Medical Brigades is to work with licensed medical professionals and community health workers to provide comprehensive health services in rural communities in Honduras, Nicaragua, Ghana and Panama with limited access to healthcare. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are treated and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are also collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.

At Smith College, we hope to empower young volunteers to resolve global health and economic disparities in under-resourced communities and inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world.
