Passionate About:

I am extremely passionate about global health and the well-being of society. We live such privileged lives at home and often turn our backs to the devastating reality of today's global health conditions. We take so much for granted in our lives, myself included, that I find it necessary to give back to those in need. My ultimate dream is to become a practicing physician and travel across the world to provide sufficient medical care to those that would otherwise not have access to it. I believe that my role in Global Medical Brigades will act as a stepping stone to the rest of what is to come in my future.

Indiana University Medical/Dental Brigade May 2015 PAN

Jaeson's Message

This upcoming May I have the amazing opportunity to travel down to Panama with Indiana University’s Global Brigades on a Medical Brigade. On this brigade, we will be providing underprivileged families with the medicines and doctor care that we often take for granted here at home. This cause means a lot to me as a future physician, and I look forward to making a difference in the lives of these people. Volunteer Activity Description

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
