About Hokies For Haiti
Hokies For Haiti works with St. Mary's Catholic Church in Blacksburg, VA to support and work with Haitians in the Pignon and Savanette community. We believe in helping the community in varying scales, from buying pieces of land for school building, to designing and building the schools, to sponsoring the children's tuition and school lunches, to bringing them soccer balls to play with and shoes to run around in. St. Mary's has been twinned with the Pignon parish since the 1980's, and have helped build a very strong and growing community. Hokies For Haiti works with the Haiti Committee at St. Mary's to expand the projects onto the Virginia Tech campus, raising awareness of the simple gestures that can improve the Haitian's lives through fundraising and hosting campus activities.
