Passionate About:

I am a biology major interested in both the animal and human aspects of the medical field, so naturally I am fascinated by the opportunity to travel to Honduras to help underprivileged people in a medical setting. I would love to be given the chance to practice something I hope to do for the rest of my life, while simultaneously improving the quality of life of a deserving, yet disadvantaged, community which lacks even the most basic healthcare. The level of experience this trip would provide is incomparable to any offered in the United States, while allowing me to put my Hispanic studies minor to good use.

About Us

Medical Brigades at Illinois Wesleyan University is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The IWU chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. Global Medical Brigades develops sustainable health initiatives and provides relief where there is limited access to healthcare. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are treated and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
