Global Medical Brigades at Saint Louis University

Saint Louis University Global Medical Brigades is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The SLU chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 200,000 Honduran, Panamanian, Nicaraguan and Ghanaian community members annually. Global Medical Brigades develops sustainable health initiatives and provides relief where there is limited access to healthcare. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are treated and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends

Global Medical/Dental Brigades at San Francisco State University

Global Brigades at SFSU involves undergraduate students in recruitment of health professionals and procurement of medical supplies and funds for the brigades. Our mission provides a great experience for pre-health students and an opportunity to get involved with networking, third-world issues, and volunteer work. Students will have an immersive experience while preparing for and during the trip. Hands-on experience includes setting up a temporary clinic and staffing it in multiple areas (triage, shadowing, pharmacy), as well as preventative healthcare projects. Being an entirely student-run organization, we depend on creative, hard-working, and dedicated individuals with a sincere interest in global health and other related issues.

Global Microfinance Brigades, UC Riverside

Microfinance Brigade volunteers work with community bank loan officers to consult potential borrowers on improving financial sustainability through a 7 day Microfinance Brigade in Honduras. Student volunteers can either join an existing Microfinance Brigades chapter on their campus or create their own chapter and recruit other volunteers. Volunteers provide rural communities with the educational, financial, and organizational resources necessary to sustainably drive their own economic development. By partnering with other international organizations in microfinance, Microfinance Brigades provides the financial backing and technical support to create and strengthen independent community banks.

Grinnell College Medical and Dental Brigades

Grinnell College is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. This university chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. Students participating in Medical/Dental Brigades empower rural communities in Honduras, Panama and Ghana by providing comprehensive health services to those with limited access to healthcare. We mobilize licensed medical professionals, community health workers, and thousands of student volunteers annually to facilitate much-needed Medical and Dental Brigades.

Honduras Job Shadowing Internship

Honduras will be offering a 3-week, job shadowing internship that gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at the community selection and preparation process as they accompany Global Brigades programming staff on community visits and day-to-day meetings.

Hoya Water Brigades

Global Brigades offers 7-day Water Brigades throughout the year in Honduras. Water Brigades' mission is to empower communities to access sufficient clean water through infrastructural development, water treatment, community leader training and education. Water Brigades volunteers assist in implementing clean water systems to prevent water-related illnesses in communities with limited access to clean water. One of the fundamental roadblocks to community development is lack of clean water. With a sufficient quantity of properly treated water, community members can cut off the connection between water and illness and ultimately live healthier, more productive lives. Volunteers work side-by-side with community members as well as with our in-country project technicians in all aspects of the water system's construction while learning about its design, functionality, and long-term sustainability.
